The Myths and Legend of Your World

Sacadia’s Art of War provides players the ability to take on the role of mythic heroes and soldiers within their culture of Sacadia by adding a Profession Aspect to how players engage with Sacadia. the Profession aspects of Sacadia’s Art of War are designed for:

◆ Modularity: Sacadia’s Art of War is designed as a standalone game for lovers of crunchy, rules-heavy combat mechanics. For players who want both the Macro level play of Tales of Sacadia and the Micro play of Sacadia’s Art of War, these rules plug directly into the Macro level game design of Tales of Sacadia

◆ Replayability: Each Profession in Sacadia’s Art of War is designed to fit within the Legacy format of Tales of Sacadia. That means players can play the same Profession repeatedly without ever taking the same abilities, and giving them unique ways to play the game

◆ Strategy: Combat in Sacadia’s Art of War is designed to be engaged strategically. Players are rewarded for building a team that can work together to achieve their combat goals

Professions in Sacadia

Professions provide the unique abilities characters have to fight in the dangerous world of Sacadia. There are currently 6 Professions, with 8 more planned for future expansions. A brief description of each Profession is given below.

Blade Dancer

◆ Party Role: AoE Damage, Sword Tricks, Maneuvering Dances

◆ Many Blades: Blade Dancers are known for their use of a multitude of blades. Axes, Daggers, whatever the case - they are quick to cause harm or bleed out their enemies

◆ Light Feet: Blade Dancers are known for light feet and their ability to move quickly and effortlessly through crowds of people

Examples of Blade Dancers

Thieves and pickpockets are good examples of the Blade Dancer, but so are Indian Kshatriya, Turkish Dervishes, and Chinese Ribbon Dancers.

Fatebound

◆ Party Role: DPS + AoE, Crit-Fishing, Fate Manipulation

◆ Divine Fate: Fatebound are bound by pact to a God, Demon, or Spirit, granting them unique luck and a magic weapon

◆ Hit Hard: Fatebound carry a magic weapon they receive from their Patron that they summon to hand. These elemental weapons hit very hard

Examples of Fatebound

The blessed Achilles, Kaguya-Hime, the Pandova brothers, and Cu Chulainn are all Fatebound, as is Thor under tribulation. All of these characters share the blessing and curse of fate, and wield holy weapons or powers which grant them power–and pose danger to themselves.

Oracle

◆ Party Role: Ranged Control and Support, AoE Damage and Control

◆ Madness: Oracles inflict madness upon themselves during combat, gaining power as they do. They must balance this resource carefully however, or risk going insane. Some oracles prefer it this way.

◆ Mystics: Oracles pierce the veil of reality, and cast spells against their enemies

Examples of Oracles

The Greek oracle at Delphi, Chinese Pyromancers, and Mayan Witch Doctors are all examples of oracles—using strange powers of fate to tell the future and react with magical entreaties to the gods themselves.

Soldier

◆ Party Role: Melee Support, Tank, Battleground Manipulation

◆ Supporting Calls: Soldiers provide rallying calls to their allies during combat, providing support to those close to them

◆ Heavily Armored: Unique in Antiquity, Soldiers wear heavy armor, often wielding a shield and spear to battle and provide the front lines of any fight

Examples of Soldiers

The Roman Princeps, the Han Tunzhang, and the Persian Hazara-Patish are all examples of the soldier profession in Sacadia—a leader of troops in battle and a warrior without fear.

Sentinel

◆ Party Role: Ranged DPS, Reactive Conditions, Ranged Attacks

◆ Hit Hard: Sentinels provide high damage using a Bow, Crossbow, or Sling, and have unique strategies for their weapon of choice

◆ Knowledge is Power: Sentinels learn what they can about the creatures they hunt, granting them special abilities against specific types of foes

Examples of Sentinels

The Hun archers, the Nubian Medjay, and the Roman Sagittarii are all examples of the Sentinel profession in Sacadia—archers and slingmen who leverage advanced ranged tactics to inflict great damage upon the enemy.

Thug

◆ Party Role: Melee DPS, Raging, Physical Conditions

◆Pin Your Foe: Thugs are grappling, wrestling fighters. They often focus on pinning down their enemies so that allies can get behind and surround them, or manipulating enemies into a weakened position

Examples of Thugs

The Roman Gladiator, Chinese Jiao Li wrestlers, and Norse Berserkers are examples of the Thug Profession—physical wrestlers and ragers who get up close, act quickly, and disable the enemy.
